Occupational / Construction Health and Safety Management Qualifications

Learnership Certificate in Construction Health and Safety Management (NQF Level 3) 3 Years
National Diploma in Safety Management 2 Years
B-Tech in Safety Management 1 Year
B.Com Operational Risk Management 1 Year

 

Construction Management Qualifications with Additional Health and Safety Training

CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER CANDIDATE PERIOD
National Diploma (Building, CM, QS, Archt, Civil, Electrical, Mech) + Programmes in Construction Health and Safety 3 Years
BSc / B-Tech (Building, CM, QS, Archt, Civil, Electrical, Mech) + Programmes in Construction Health and Safety 2 Years

 

Qualifications with Small Components of OHS Plus Additional Health and Safety Training

CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER CANDIDATE PERIOD
National Diploma in (Enviro, Related) + Programmes in Construction 3 Years
BSc in (Enviro, Related) + Programmes in Construction Health and Safety 2 Years

CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER (C.CHSO) RELEVANT POST QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER  (C. CHSM) RELEVANT POST QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY AGENT (C.CHSA) RELEVANT POST QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
A person will be registered as a Candidate CHSO if he / she does not meet all the Requirements (Experience and Qualifications) of registering as a CHSO A person will be registered as a Candidate CHSM if he / she does not meet all the requirements (Experience and Qualifications) of registering as a Pr. CHSM

A person will be registered as a Candidate CHSA if he / she does not meet all the requirements (Experience and Qualifications) of registering as a Pr. CHSA

 

*NOTE: MSc requirements apply only if the Applicant is in possession of an undergraduate qualification in a field related to the MSc degree.

MSc requirements do not apply if the applicant is in possession of an undergraduate qualification not related to the above MSc degrees such as Arts, TRP, Finance, etc. undergraduate qualifications

 

Upgrade to Professional Category

CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER (C.CHSO) RELEVANT POST QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER  (C. CHSM) RELEVANT POST QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CANDIDATE CONSTRUCTION HEALTH AND SAFETY AGENT (C.CHSA) RELEVANT POST QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
TO UPGRADE TO CHSO TO UPGRADE TO CHSM TO UPGRADE TO Pr. CHSA

The person would need to be recommended from the Assessment of Logbooks submitted annually while also working under a Registered

CHSO.

*NOTE: Candidate registration category will commence after the Transition period of the 31st of March 2013 to 31st of March 2014. These are Candidates without the relevant work experience but the necessary qualifications.

 

Academic Route of Registration

This applies to applicants in the academic environment involved in teaching accredited courses and carrying out research activities that are relevant to the construction health and safety environment with four (4) years’ experience.

 

The following are required:

  1. A 3000 word report that documents the relevance of the research in the construction health and safety profession and how it has been applied
  2. The applicants are required to submit four (4) peer reviewed research papers in the field of Construction Health and Safety of which at least two (2) should be published in an Accredited Journal.
  3. Pass a professional interview
