In terms of Section 13(k) of the SACPCMP Act No. 48 of 2000, the Council is empowered to determine the conditions relating to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of registered persons relating to Project and Construction Management and Construction Health and Safety to protect the public interest.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an international as well as national means of ensuring that professionals keep pace with developments and advances in their discipline and field of practice.
In this 21st Century the world is deemed to be a very dynamic environment where the needs of communities enormously grow and Professionals have demands that are increasingly becoming complex. Thus, the Council recognized the need of introducing CPD, through CPD the capacity of Professionals will be enhanced and high quality of services will be promoted.
In order to obtain CPD hours, Professionals need to be engaged in the following three categories:
1. Category A: Core Knowledge and Non-Core Knowledge
2. Category B: Mentorship and Development
3. Category C: Ongoing Practice
