SACPCMP LAUNCHES ROADSHOW FOR REGISTRATION OF BUILDING INSPECTORS TO A PACKED HOUSE

There was a packed house at the roadshow launch event for the Registration of Building Inspectors, presented by the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) in Midrand this week. 11 September 2019

The Council welcomed building inspectors from across Gauteng to discuss the requirements and benefits of the registration process that will commence in October 2019.

“The SACPCMP has been identified as the most preferable governing body to administer the registration of building inspectors and in November 2015, we entered into a partnership where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the National Home Builders Registration Council to ensure the registration and certification of Building Inspectors”, said SACPCMP Registrar, Butcher Matutle, at the roadshow launch. It was envisaged that this would go a long way in protecting the public from substandard building practices. Too many times we have seen disastrous events where buildings or bridges collapse due to substandard building practices. People have lost their lives, their income and their quality of life. And the ripple effect has resulted in a building inspectorate struggling for respect within its professional sphere. As such, it was felt that this registration would boosting the professionalism of the sector and assist in legitimizing building inspectors within South Africa.”
